Patrick grips the steering wheel a little tighter. “Since we’re sharing, I guess. I’m also not a serial killer, or a catfish, and I’m, um—clean, too.”
David hums. “Organs?”
“I left my scalpel in my other jeans.”
“Oh, of course. You wouldn’t have been able to fit it in these.”
Patrick laughs again. He seems to get more comfortable every time David teases him, which is a pleasant coincidence. “Still,” he says, “I want to apologize in advance if there’s some sort of etiquette for… this type of thing. If I accidentally break some unwritten rules. I promise it’s just ignorance.”
David looks at his profile in the intermittent glow of the street lights. “I’m sure we’ll get through it,” he says. “It’s only fucking, after all.”
David visits the Wobbly Elm, hoping to find someone he can fuck and then
forget without too much trouble. He meets a man with tight jeans and
loud eyes who might be looking for a bit more than David is able to
give.
It’s a mistake, but one that David is more than willing to make.
